Mid-Winter Meeting

The OSA Mid-Winter Meeting is held every year in January in the Willamette Valley area of Oregon. The one day event consists of committee and general member meetings, workshops, and includes lunch. Scholarship awards are presented to eligible applicants. The day concludes with an evening reception to honor past OSA association presidents. The preliminary meeting agenda is below.

Recently, the Oregon legislature passed the most sweeping statewide equal pay law in the nation. Oregon’s Equal Pay Act of 2017 is the most all-encompassing, and yet, most quietly passed employment law in the United States in 2017.   • Panel on 2019 Session Bills, Panel Speakers: Paul Phillips, Pac/West Communications; Scott Dahlman, Oregonians for Food & Shelter; Jenny Dressler, Oregon Farm Bureau; and Roger Beyer, Oregon Seed Council; Moderator: James Schneider
    Each panel speaker each present several bills expected in the 2019 legislature related to corporate taxes, pesticides, wage/labor issues, and grower-specific issues, giving the pros and cons of each bill as it applies to seed dealers in the industry—both large corporations and small companies—and their recommendation on whether OSA membership should support or oppose the bill.
