Associates

Purpose: To provide information and expertise to the OSTA and board; respond to concerns of the OSTA; and provide a forum for Associates to voice concerns to OSTA and Board. Their goals are to provide a means to address OSTA membership as a whole; and provide a list of associates and their areas of expertise to the membership.

Certification, Testing, & Quality Control

Purpose: To cooperate with the Oregon State University Certification Board, State and private seed testing laboratories, Oregon State Department of Agriculture and the USDA on matters of mutual interest and recognizing broad interest of the industry in seed certification, seed testing, and seed production. To explore and recommend changes beneficial to production and marketing to the seed industry.

Convention

Purpose: To prepare a budget for the annual convention and submit it to the Board for approval at least six months in advance of the annual meeting; select a site, dates and program subject to the President's approval. (A tentative selection of site and dates should be made three years in advance by the Association fficers); and approve all convention bills for payment by the Executive Vice President.

Insurance

Purpose: To be responsible for reviewing the Association's health insurance program with the carrier thirty days prior to the mid-winter and annual meetings of each year and to further review any improvement to the health insurance program in making recommendations to the Board on such improvements or changes it feels are needed by the Association at the mid-winter and annual meetings.

International

Purpose: To cultivate the maintenance of cordial relations with seedsmen and government representatives in other countries; to report to the Association any developments of interest; to keep the Association informed on import and export laws and regulations affecting the industry; to maintain close cooperation with the International Committee of the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) and support its efforts as programmed by the offices of ASTA.

Legislative

Purpose: To represent the Association in all matters of legislation, federal or state, affecting the industry, coordinating such matters with the Association lobbyist; shall regulate an understanding relationship with federal and state enforcement officials and may cooperate with them on matters of mutual interest.

Public Relations & Scholarship

Research and Development

Traffic

Purpose: To represent the Association in all matters of freight rates including rail, truck and ocean carriers and to cultivate an understanding relationship with those representing the carriers of Oregon seed products in order that members of the Association are not jeopardized by unfair freight rates to the marketplace.
